A friend of mine recently told me about a neighbor who is a wood carver of sorts. He became intrigued with garden statues and decided to create a few. He started with a 6-foot tall solid wood statue of St. Francis. Not only is this statue heavy, but delicate at the same time, since he carved birds sitting on the shoulders and other exquisite details. His first turned out so well, he started working on several more.
He sent a picture to his sister who lives in the U.K. and she immediately ordered one for her garden outside of London. That’s when he realized he had a problem that hadn’t previously occurred to him: how to get these works of art to people who want them, and without them getting damaged in the process.
Fortunately, he mentioned this to my friend, his neighbor, who of course had the answer for him, “Just call Craters & Freighters.” He was thrilled to find out we could come pick it up, build a custom crate to protect it during shipping, and that we could take care of shipping it internationally to his sister in Europe. But, what haunts me is the question he asked, “How come I’ve never heard of you?”
Our 67 owners work hard to let people in their markets know about Craters & Freighters. And, after 21 years, it’s easy to think that probably most everybody knows about us. The fact is, however, many still don’t. So, if you have a friend or family member who needs to pack, crate and ship valuable antiques, fine art, or a St. Francis statue, I’d really appreciate you telling them about us.
You can be sure they’ll be really appreciative.
